Ace Combat 8 Release Date, Platforms and Editions
One instant, three platforms and five editions. This page pins down exactly when the game unlocks where you live, what each edition contains and which numbers are worth trusting when stores disagree.
Ace Combat 8 release date
October 2, 2026 is the worldwide release date Bandai Namco publishes for all three platforms. The game does not roll out region by region — everyone is waiting on the same moment, October 1, 2026 at 22:00 UTC.
That single instant is why the date looks inconsistent depending on where you read it. Steam prints the unlock in your own local time, so a store page in the Americas shows October 1 while the publisher's own page shows October 2. Both are correct; they describe the same unlock.
| Region | Unlock time |
|---|---|
| UTC | October 1, 22:00 |
| Central Europe (CEST) | October 2, 00:00 |
| United Kingdom (BST) | October 1, 23:00 |
| US East Coast (EDT) | October 1, 18:00 |
| US West Coast (PDT) | October 1, 15:00 |
| China / Singapore (GMT+8) | October 2, 06:00 |
| Japan (JST) | October 2, 07:00 |
| Sydney (AEST) | October 2, 08:00 |
Times are the same moment expressed in eight zones and are rounded to the minute. Console storefronts have not published their own regional unlock times, so check your console's store listing if you are waiting on a console rather than PC.
Early access
Digital pre-orders of the Deluxe Edition, the Joker Flight Pack and the Premium Joker Flight Pack began playing on September 29, 2026 at 00:00 CEST, which is September 28, 2026 at 22:00 UTC. That is a three-day head start on the worldwide release.
Two conditions are worth knowing before you buy for the head start. The early access is attached to digital pre-orders, so a physical copy — including the digital code inside a retail box — does not qualify. And the Deluxe Edition stays on sale after launch but without the early-access bonus, because that bonus belongs to the pre-order window rather than to the edition itself.
Platforms
PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Steam). The console versions and the PC build are released together, and ACE COMBAT ONLINE supports cross-play, so pilots on different platforms share the same online space.
There is no PlayStation 4 or Xbox One version. The game is built on Unreal Engine 5 with ray tracing hardware in mind, and the publisher lists only the current-generation consoles alongside PC. Everything we have verified about the PC build is on the PC system requirements page.
Editions compared
Five packages exist, and two of them never reach a console storefront. The comparison below is the whole line-up in one place.
| Edition | Price | Early access | What is included |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Edition | €69.99 · $69.99 · HK$499 | No |
Digital on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC; disc copies through retailers where stocked |
| Deluxe Edition | HK$649 · $89.99 | Yes, with a digital pre-order |
Digital on consoles and PC, disc for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in some regions, printed Steam code for PC. Stays on sale after launch but without the early-access bonus. |
| Joker Flight Pack | Not sold separately | Yes, with a digital pre-order |
Bandai Namco Store exclusive, PC / Steam only, supplied as a printed Steam code |
| Premium Joker Flight Pack | Not sold separately | Yes, with a digital pre-order |
Bandai Namco Store exclusive, PC only |
| PlayStation 5 Collector's Edition (Asia) | Not sold separately | Yes, with a digital pre-order |
Physical, Asian markets |
On the prices. Stores set their own regional numbers, so there is no single global price. The figures above are what the stores publish for those regions: €69.99 for the Standard Edition on the Bandai Namco Europe store, and the Steam listings for the United States and Hong Kong. Check your own store before buying — the ratios differ enough between regions that converting one currency into another will mislead you.
If you only want to fly, the Standard Edition is the whole game; nothing in the more expensive packages changes the campaign. What the higher tiers sell is time, cosmetic items and a seasonal online pass.
Pre-order bonuses
Three bonuses are attached to ordering early. Only one of them is time-limited in a way that matters.
| Bonus | What it actually is |
|---|---|
| Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War | The 2006 game, included as a straight port rather than a remaster. Digital pre-orders receive it at launch; physical first-run copies carry a code. |
| F-14A aircraft | Playable from launch for anyone who pre-orders digitally or buys a first-run physical copy. |
| Three days of early access | Attached to digital pre-orders of the Deluxe Edition and the two Joker Flight Packs only. |
The bundled Ace Combat Zero is a port of the 2006 game rather than a remaster, which the publisher states plainly — worth knowing if you were expecting updated visuals.
Install size, preload and day-one patch
The PC build asks for 150 GB of free space on an SSD. That is the only install figure the publisher has published; console download sizes and any day-one patch size have not been listed, and we would rather leave those blank than pass on a number nobody has confirmed.
Given the size, buying on PC before release night is the practical choice: Steam lists the game as a pre-purchase, so the build can be downloaded ahead of the unlock instead of competing for bandwidth with everyone else at the same minute.
Is Ace Combat 8 on Game Pass or PlayStation Plus?
No day-one subscription release has been announced. Bandai Namco has not said the game will arrive on Game Pass or the PlayStation Plus catalogue at launch, and the pre-order pages sell it outright rather than through either service.
The publisher has also been explicit that the game has no paid loot boxes and no randomised paid rewards, so the online pass is a straightforward seasonal track rather than a chance-based system.
PC requirements, in short
Windows 11, DirectX 12 with Shader Model 6.6, a graphics card with hardware ray tracing and 150 GB on an SSD. Minimum also asks for a Core i7-10700K or Ryzen 5 3600X with 16 GB of memory and an RTX 2060 or RX 6600 XT, and targets 1080p upscaled at 30 fps on Low. Recommended asks for a Core i7-12700K or Ryzen 5 5600X with 32 GB and an RTX 3070 or RX 6800, targeting 1080p upscaled at 60 fps on Medium.
The full breakdown, including what a mandatory ray tracing requirement means for older cards, is on the PC system requirements page. Ready to look at the roster instead? The aircraft list covers all 30-plus airframes and how you earn them.

Release date questions
When does Ace Combat 8 come out in the US?
The unlock lands on October 1 at 18:00 EDT on the East Coast and 15:00 PDT on the West Coast, which the publisher still calls an October 2 release because it is already October 2 in Europe and Asia. Everybody starts playing at the same moment.
Is there a deluxe edition of Ace Combat 8?
Yes. The Deluxe Edition adds three days of early access for digital pre-orders, a Premium Ace Pass Plus voucher covering one season of premium rewards plus 30 instant pass levels, and a cosmetic set with two aircraft skins, a costume set and missile smoke. It stays on sale after launch, minus the early-access bonus.
Can I pre-load Ace Combat 8?
Steam lists the game as a pre-purchase, so PC players can start the 150 GB download before the unlock. Console pre-load windows have not been published by the publisher, so check your console store for the exact time.
Is Ace Combat 8 coming to PS4 or Xbox One?
No. Bandai Namco lists PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC only. The game targets Unreal Engine 5 visuals and ray tracing hardware, and no last-generation version has been announced.
Who develops Ace Combat 8?
Bandai Namco Aces Inc., the studio behind the series, working as Project Aces. Bandai Namco Entertainment publishes it. Wings of Theve is the first mainline entry since Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown in 2019.
