A five-letter deduction puzzle built around vocabulary

Pentaword gives six attempts to find one hidden five-letter word. Green, yellow and gray tiles show whether a letter is correct, misplaced or absent, turning every guess into evidence for the next one.

Use spelling, vocabulary and positional clues to submit the correct word within six guesses. You can type on a keyboard or select the on-screen letters with the mouse.

Start with a clear plan

• Open with a word that tests several common vowels and consonants.
• Do not reuse gray letters unless another clue proves that the word contains a repeated copy.
